Gail worked with staff at City Schools of Decatur to translate the community’s vision for a student support center into a reality, providing strategy and navigating several challenges to getting the project done.
I had the opportunity to work with Gail on the creation of a space for middle school students where they could receive mental health support. This work was an expansion of previous work done at our high school. Her collaborative and authentic leadership style, coupled with her innate ability to bring people together helped bring the vision to life and now hundreds of students are using the student center each week. Gail was a great sounding board and helped us navigate challenges with creative thinking and an unwavering focus on our mission. She is committed to the true work of educational equity through her actions and the support she brings to programs that impact students of color.
What I really appreciate about Gail’s leadership is her energy as an advocate and an ally and her ability to solve problems that might make others give up on big ideas. I have seen this play out in countless projects over many years – Gail brings a varied skillset that makes great things happen for our kids.
